The Alma Mater Studiorum – University of Bologna (formerly the University of Bologna) is an Italian state university. It is considered the oldest university in the properly speaking world, with the estimated year of establishment in the year 1088.

The university holds a cool historical fact of it being the first university that granted a degree to a woman and allowed the same woman to teach there.
